MRS. ZEITLER
Mrs. Zeitler has served as a string specialist in the Howard County Public School System directing middle and elementary school orchestras since her move to Maryland in 2003. She co-directs the Howard County Middle School Gifted and Talented Orchestra. She has served as a string representative for Howard County’s Music Leadership Team. She enjoys guest conducting honors groups across the state of Maryland and is a frequent adjudicator for Orchestra Assessments as well as Solo & Ensemble festivals. Mrs. Zeitler also maintains a private violin and viola studio and teaches at the Marriotts Ridge High School summer music camp.
Mrs. Zeitler began playing the violin at age four. She was trained in San Francisco, New Orleans, San Diego and here in the Baltimore area and was the concertmaster of multiple university orchestras. She studied under the tutelage of Anne Lane Vosough, Valerie Poulette, Fred Lifsitz and Zoltan Szabo as well as receiving chamber music instruction from the Alexander String Quartet. Her degree programs featured special focus on both chamber music and cross-cultural language and development. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from San Francisco State University and a master's degree in Advanced Teaching Practices. Mrs. Zeitler achieved National Board Certification in 2018.

Mrs. Lahan
Mrs. Sarah Lahan has been teaching as a strings specialist in Howard County Public Schools since 2017. She previously taught middle and high school orchestra in Oklahoma public schools and taught violin lessons in private schools around the DC metro area with the Music Kids program. Mrs. Lahan co-founded and directs the Lahan Music Studio for violin and piano instruction in Catonsville with her husband, pianist Patrick Lahan. She has coached chamber music with the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra program and serves on the board for the MD/DC chapter of the American String Teachers Association.
Mrs. Lahan holds bachelor's degrees in Violin Performance and Music Education and a Master of Music degree in Performance from the University of Maryland, where her primary teachers were Dr. Gerald Fischbach and Dr. James Stern. Go Terps! |
